Franklin Graham Backs British Journalist Piers Morgan: ISIS ‘Declared War on Christianity’

Rev. Franklin Graham expressed agreement with former CNN Anchor Piers Morgan after the journalist asserted last week that the Islamic State terrorist organization has set a definite goal to target Christians – a statement that came after ISIS detonated two explosions that slaughtered at least 45 people at Coptic churches during Palm Sunday services in Egypt.

The St. George’s Coptic Church bombing in Tanta killed at least 28 and injured 78, when a bomb reportedly planted by an altar was detonated during worship. Shortly afterward, an ISIS suicide bomber blew himself up outside St. Mark’s Orthodox Coptic Cathedral in Alexandria, killing at least 17 and injuring another 48 around him.

Drawing the battle lines

Following the comment made by Morgan on Fox, who currently serves as editor for the Daily Mail, Graham announced to his social media following that he thoroughly agrees with his assertion about ISIS “declaring war on Christianity.”

“Piers Morgan is absolutely right in what he told Fox News about Sunday’s church bombings in Egypt,” the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) expressed on a Facebook Post on Tuesday. “What happened in Egypt was unbelievably significant.”

Graham went on to clearly lay out what he believes ISIS’s operations are all about.

“You know, if you look at what ISIS really stands for – what they are carrying out now in the Middle East and in Egypt in particular – is a kind of genocidal attack on Christians and Christianity,” the global evangelist pointed out. “They want Christianity eradicated and they want to convert all Muslims to their crusade.”

Graham, who also heads the Christian aid organization, Samaritan’s Purse, stressed what ISIS’s true ambitions are.

“They want it to be a holy war and they want Christians gone,” he continued. “And I don’t think that narrative is getting the attention that it should get in the American media – and the same in other media – as well as around the world.'”

The vocal preacher from North Carolina concluded his Facebook post by once again supporting Morgan’s assertion about Muslim terrorists waging jihad on Christians across the globe.

“He’s right! — ‘ISIS have declared war on Christianity,'” Graham proclaimed.
